U2-Stationen
1. Karlsplatz
In an apparent quite modern station but dirty and untidy, some escalators lead to a large hall in the basement where there are several shops, including bakeries, which give off a good scent of just-made bread. The atrium, which bustles with people, is very stretched and shrinks, leaving a glimpse at the outside a large square with many gardens, above which the rising dome of Secession and the profile of the Karlskirche.
2. Museumsquartier
The stop in Museumsquartier has a rather old: the walls of the station are covered with large knobs purple, white and gray, giving it an emphasis stale. The station is pretty dirty, and on the floor are pieces of paper and packaging. Some escalators leading out on Mariahilferstrasse, next to the Museum District.
3. Volkstheater
We are located in the oldest part of U2 and the pale-colored walls give a sense of abandonment at the station. People are quickly dissipated by the close corridors leading out through the stairs. In return, the station is located in the beautiful area Museumquartier: on the one side there is the beautiful Maria Theresien-Platz, with the Kunsthistorisches and Naturhistorisches Museum, on the other side, behind the palace of justice, there is the parliament.
4. Rathaus
We are located in the oldest part of U2 and the pale-colored walls give a sense of abandonment at the station. People are quickly dissipated by the close corridors leading out through the stairs. The exit of the station is located just behind the City Hall of Vienna, a truly remarkable in style Gothic-Flemish.
5. Schottentor
The station is located in central and strategic position, halfway between the Stephansdom and the parliament, next to the headquarters of the University of Vienna, the Votivkirche, the Rathaus and the Casino of Vienna. This station is characterized by a large central atrium from which through escalators help to reach the metro stations. The lobby is dotted with shops, bakeries, shops of clothes, flower, books. is always full of busy people who often have too much hurry to stop and buy a newspaper from the sellers who lie on the floor their goods.
6. Schottenring
The passengers, that descend from the subway, can reach through a narrow and down corridor an other central corridor that leads outside throught escaletors and elevators. In general, the room has a gray and empty appearance, and the passengers push off quickly, leaving this dark environment to reach the crowded streets of the Ring and Donaukanal.
7. Taborstrasse
The station consists of a large semi-desert atrium. Some long escalators are leading to the surface. The light comes from large bulbs on the ceiling, but overall the station has a rather gray and boring, almost depressed. Outside the station is a neighborhood with some decadent, poorly maintained and with dull colors painted buildings. The area seems to be in conflict with the traditional cleaning and accuracy that characterizes the city.
8. Praterstern
The station consists of a large semi-desert atrium. Some long escalators are leading to the surface. The light comes from large bulbs on the ceiling, but overall the station has a rather gray and boring, almost depressed.
9. Messe Prater
The station is located just below the ground level and is very broad. At the center hole and large windows allow sunlight to penetrate into the atrium, creating a pleasing brightness. The environment is modern and clean, surprisingly pleasant for a station. A short staircase and lift leads to the surface, where, next to a suburban neighborhood, there are some parks and a Tennisclub.
10. Krieau
The station of Krieau is elevated from the ground. The light is dim, with windows on the ceiling and side windows that allow natural light to enter. A staircase leads to the ground floor, where at the end of a room is the exit. The area where the metro is located is suburban and is characterized by large modern buildings covered with glass walls, next to smaller buildings built in the style of the city.
11. Stadion
This new suburban station is modern and clean, but pretty close. It is not underground, but even elevated compared to ground level. The light is soft and enters through large windows on the ceiling and the side walls, which are stained glass windows. Despite this there are also many lamps. A scale and some lifts take passengers to the ground floor, where there is a rather large hall with two side exits. Next to the station there are on the one side some department stores, on the other side a complex of small houses with sloping roofs, rather decadent.
